The extra mile theory

I turned down a €5,500 net-per-month offer at thirty-eight years old. Most of the people I told looked at me like I was crazy. My mother is probably still shaking her head.

The issue wasn’t the money — the money was great. The issue was what that money was buying: my ambition and my time.

Accepting that job would have meant stepping into a comfortable, well-heated golden cage, with food guaranteed every month. But a cage is still a cage. At this age, I’m not looking for security. If I know I have a guaranteed paycheck at the end of the month, I stop being hungry. I stop chasing more. I stop waking up with the obsession to build something of my own.

I chose uncertainty. I chose to wake up every morning knowing that I’m not producing real value yet — that I’m still at zero. It’s stressful, yes. But for me, it’s absolutely worth it.

I’d rather build my own asset while risking everything than rent out my time to build someone else’s dream.
